Reading is an important part of every child's life. We want children to become lifelong readers and have a love for reading. The best way to do this is to read to your children. Children love to be read to. There are many benefits that children receive when we read to our children. When we read to them we are increasing their vocabulary and modeling reading strategies and behaviors. Make sure your children see you reading as well. Children will want to read if they see their parents reading. And reading together makes for great family time. Happy Reading Everyone!
Here is a Powtoon I created for the different types of reading.
Four Types of Reading Powtoon
A Powtoon Presentation can be very useful in the classroom. They can be used at the beginning of a lesson as an introductory to get students engaged and ready to learn. And they can be used to help with a lesson in the classroom. Students would love to watch a video of a lesson they are learning.
Maegan, I was really interested in seeing your blog since I am a fellow kindergarten teacher. Reading, especially reading at home, is such an important piece for kindergarteners. We use baggie books and send home 3 books each week for parents to read with their children. I love the idea of incorporating a blog into family reading.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way to help parents know what they can be doing to help their child succeed. An alternative to notes being sent home on a certain day.
ReplyDeleteMaegan, This blog is so essential and needed for every family and child that is in school. Reading is the foundation, I can clearly speak about reading being a recent Raise a Reader coordinator for prenatal mom, birth to three and three to five Reading starts during conception and continues throughout children life. Yes parental involvement is so essential as well. who can be a child's first teacher none other than mom and dad, Great blog
ReplyDeleteHi Maegan, I enjoy reading your first blog and I strongly agree with you that "Reading is an important part of every child's life". I also think the idea you mention in your blog that to read to your children is great and helpful. Children can always learn from their parents through daily behavior. If I have children one day in the future, I will definitely reading every single day and be a good model to he/ her. : )
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the information that you have included so far! I am super big about parent involvement so this is a great way to share information and ideas with parents! Great job so far! I look forward to more!
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog! It is very informational. I have a kindergartener and reading is something she wants to do every night. It is so important to do for our kids. They crave knowledge at this age and we should really take advantage of that while it is there. I also like that this can be a good parent resource. Little kids do not always understand the concept of time or what the teacher tells them about school or classroom events. It is good to have a resource that can go straight to the parents.
ReplyDeleteHi! Your blog looks great. I have really enjoyed looking at everyone's blogs. I couldn't agree with you more. Reading is so important. I tell my own children this all the time. It is the key to success in so many areas of life. I have met so many people(young and old) who say that they hate reading. I feel sorry for people like that. They don't know what they are missing!
